March 2006 Ministry Momentum

Dear Friends of His Church At Work,

I hope this finds you blessed at work and in life. Please celebrate the news in this edition of the HCAW WorkLife Momentum - God is doing great things in His Church and we are blessed to be a part of His plan. Why can’t WorkLife be tuned out by the church or us individually? Below is an excellent summary of the reason why.

"In the workplace the witness comes in a form that cannot be tuned out like a radio program, it can't be zapped like a TV broadcast, it can't be thrown away like a Bible tract, it can't be turned down like an invitation to a concert. The person yet to accept Christ as their personal Savior can tune almost anything out, but he or she can't tune out the spectacle of the Christian living in the power of the Spirit day by day, hour by hour, crisis by crisis at work."

Mark Greene, Executive Director of the London Institute for Contemporary Christianity

This is the reason His Church at Work exists -- to ignite churches to pursue an Ephesians 4:12 Worklife discipleship process - equipping their members to walk well with God at work and effectively expand Kingdom influence to their coworkers and places of work assignment. The influence potential is tremendous!

We desire this to be a reality for all the members of your church. You can CLICK HERE to learn how your church can be a part of the HCAW Network of WorkLife Churches and start growing in this area of WorkLife focus! If you are already part of the HCAW National Network and know of other churches that have great potential to adopt a WorkLife missional mindset please contact us at info@HisChurchatWork.org.

Thanks for your partnership and prayers in the Gospel.

Doug Spada, Founder--His Church at Work

THE NETWORK CONTINUES TO GROW!
We are excited to have CrossRoads Community Church, a highly contemporary, outreach- focused Willow Creek congregation located in a Michigan suburb of Toledo, Ohio join the HCAW National Network of WorkLife Churches!

CrossroadsCrossRoads has a history dating back to the late 1800's. The church experienced a rebirth in the 1980's. Along with a new name came a new approach to ministry--the congregation began reaching out with greater focus to the people of the entire Bedford region.

CrossRoads recognizes that reaching out to people in the place where they spend a majority of their time is a critical component of their strategic focus of reaching the community. His Church at Work is honored to be selected to help train and empower this dynamic and forward-thinking congregation.

His Church at Work's Mission is to empower churches to build a sustainable plan and infrastructure in which WorkLife discipleship and outreach can grow and thrive.

OS GUINNESS JOINS HCAW ADVISORY BOARD
Os GuinnessHis Church at Work is pleased to welcome Dr. Os Guinness to our Advisory Board! Os is a popular speaker and the best-selling author of The Call: Finding and Fulfilling the Central Purpose in Your Life.

Os' teaching on calling played a vital role in the life of His Church at Work's founder, Doug Spada. It was back in 1999, during an intense period of seeking to find his calling and purpose that Doug heard this message. That experience helped clarify Doug's calling and brought the realization that God can and does call believers to serve Him wherever their work takes them.

Os is familiar to many in the HCAW National Network of WorkLife Churches, having been a guest speaker on our WorkLife Institute Training. He will continue to serve as an adjunct professor in the HCAW WorkLife Institute.

We are thrilled to have Os as an integral part of our network!

CATCHING THE VISION!
FBC Simpsonville"It's been almost 2 years since I sat in a breakout session called “How to impact the workplace". As I listened to Doug Spada, of His Church at Work, I knew our business luncheons weren't getting it done even though they were mildly successful. I thought we should be making a bigger impact! Doug mentioned that we should be going after them with creative strategies such as creating Bible studies in the workplace and other tactics rather than asking them to come to us. I began writing down the strategy.

I wrote down my goal: "Partner with our members to reach their co-workers by creating environments for them to discuss God at work."

Events never work alone, so I wrote down the following process of events: Sermon Series beginning Labor Day, business luncheons in several locations around town as listening sessions, train on HCAW process, launch HCAW Discipleship Web tools to conclude the series and continue momentum, including community business luncheons in our area. In the words of our pastor, "I've never felt so good about this focus. People turned out for our luncheons in droves - especially women. Our people obviously felt comfortable inviting their coworkers. Our listening sessions became counseling sessions. Worker after worker shared their challenges, frustrations, and ethical dilemmas. Then they encouraged and prayed for one another.

"We want to be known as the church that cares about people at work! Thank you to God and His Church at Work."

Rick Julian , Minister of Evangelism, FBC Simpsonville
